Key points
1Our Goliaths are more significant to our souls than we realize, and settling for them keeps us from the freedom found in Jesus.
Pastor Michael sets up the stakes of the David and Goliath battle using a map, showing that if Israel lost, the whole nation would fall — the same way our personal giants can open the door to bondage in our lives if we make excuses for them instead of confronting them.
2We accept our giants as our normal instead of believing we're called to be victorious conquerors.
He lists common giants — past abuse, financial drowning, addiction, a marriage hanging by a thread — and describes how the Israelites dressed for battle for forty days but never intended to fight, comparing it to Christians who go through religious motions without engaging their real battles.
3You must recognize the lies your Goliath speaks and refuse to give it authority.
Working through David's response to Goliath's taunt ('Who is this pagan Philistine...'), Pastor Michael contrasts a list of lies — you're weak, worthless, a failure, an addict forever — with corresponding scriptural promises, arguing you must choose whether Goliath or God is the liar, since it can't be both.
Your Goliath does not have the ability to define your future. However, your response to that Goliath does
Either Goliath is a liar or God is the liar. It is not both
4Stewardship in the small things gives strength for the big things.
He points to David's faithfulness killing lions and bears in obscurity before ever facing Goliath, arguing character is formed when no one is watching. He ties this to Zechariah's word not to despise small beginnings and warns that squandering today compounds into defeat tomorrow.

character is formed when you're faithful and no one's watching
5True worship happens in secret moments of obedience, not just on a stage.
Pastor Michael redefines worship away from the corporate singing that just happened, describing it instead as resisting temptation or choosing to forgive someone who wronged you when no one is watching — these hidden choices shape the public victories of our lives.
6Death reminds us that every day matters and we don't have the privilege of squandering it.
Quoting David's prayer about the brevity of life, he argues death is inspirational rather than morbid because we are eternal souls, and because our numbered days press us to steward relationships and opportunities now rather than waiting for an instant miracle.
7You cannot be sustained by someone else's anointing — you can only live the life God called you to live.
He walks through David refusing Saul's armor because it wasn't tested for him, then exposes Saul's pattern of hiding from responsibility, caring more about people's approval than God's, and blaming others for his own sin — modeling the opposite of taking personal responsibility.
you can't be sustained off of someone else's anointing.
8Control over anything outside yourself is an illusion; the only person you can steward is you.
Pastor Michael lists things people try and fail to control — government, economy, other people — and insists external change never happens until internal change happens first, citing Paul's instruction to pay careful attention to your own work.
9You compare your Goliath not to yourself but to your God.
Returning to David's declaration to Goliath ('I come to you in the name of the Lord'), he argues the Christian life is impossible in our own strength but becomes possible when we're filled with God's presence, keeping our eyes on Jesus rather than on the giant.
Living the Christian life is not just hard, it's impossible
10The fear of the Lord is not being scared of God but fearing life without Him as Father.
He tells a personal story of being an 11- or 12-year-old boy lost in the dark woods deer hunting, terrified until his father's voice broke through — nothing in the situation changed except his father's presence, illustrating that God's nearness, not our circumstances, removes our fear.

Application
Pastor Michael calls the church to have the courage of David and take the greatest steps of their lives.
Name the lie your Goliath is speaking
Identify the specific lie — that you're worthless, an addict forever, a failure — and refuse to let it have authority, replacing it with what God's word actually says about you.
Steward today instead of waiting for instant results
In your marriage, finances, health, or spiritual life, take responsibility for what you can do today — serve, forgive, show grace — rather than carrying yesterday's baggage or waiting for a miracle.
Stop blaming others and take responsibility for yourself
Quit excusing your sin by pointing to what someone else did; recognize you can only control and steward your own soul, not other people or circumstances.
Fix your eyes on Jesus instead of your giant
When facing a hard decision or a hopeless situation, ask where you are looking — at the problem or at the Champion who initiates and perfects your faith.
Receive or recommit to Jesus and take the next step
If you've never trusted Jesus or have walked away, pray the prayer of confession and belief, then go to the lobby life sign so a pastor can walk with you in growth.
Take it into your week
